Event Details

Italian scientists and scholars excel at many levels in the United States and, collectively, bring a wealth of knowledge and talent in various fields, ranging from engineering to medicine, from mathematics and physics to biology, humanities and arts, among others. Among the Italian scientists residing in the United States there are four Nobel laureates, two Balzan Prize winners, two Maxwell Prize, and one Field Medal winner. Many are members of the National Academies. They are among the founding members of the Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation (ISSNAF), a nonprofit organization aimed at promoting R&D interaction among this very special Italian scientific community, and between Italy and the United States. ISSNAF was formed in 2007 and it has rapidly expanded across the United States.

On this particular occasion, BAIA has the honor to organize an event to introduce its community in the Bay Area to ISSNAF. The event will feature prominent members of the ISSNAF scientific community, who will each give us an overview of their background and the activities that ISSNAF offers and promotes. The event will also provide a unique opportunity for interaction and integration between Bay Area-based scientists and entrepreneurs and the ISSNAF community. After all, the Bay Area fosters serial innovation on a truly global scale thanks to a unique ecosystem where scientists and entrepreneurs seamlessly integrate.
